Bleeding

Loss of blood is one of the major factors of death in case of an accident. Bleeding or blood loss can be of different forms:

  • Inside the body (Internal): This cannot be determined by a First Responder by looking at the victim
  • Outside the body (External)

Initial bleeding control can be life saving. To stop bleeding, take the following steps:

  • Apply pressure with clean cloth or a sterile dressing pad
  • If the bleeding is more apply more pads without removing the old pad
  • Elevate the wounded extremity (if there is no fracture)
  • Do not give orally anything to drink or eat

Warning: Avoid direct contact with blood.
