There are different categories of signals such as
- Traffic Lights
- Hand Signals
- Signals Given by Lights of a Vehicle
Traffic Lights
To regulate different type of traffic lights are installed on roads. They include
- Traffic Lights on Junction (for motor vehicles)
- Blinking Lights or Blinkers
- Traffic Lights for Pedestrians
- Traffic Lights for Cyclists
Hand Signals
There are certain signals which are given using hand. The categories of hand signals involve
- Hand Signals Given by Drivers
- Hand Signals Given by Traffic Policeman
Signals by Vehicles Lights
Lights installed in a vehicle including headlight and tail light convey various types of signals such as:
- Vehicle applying brake (red lamp at the rear of vehicle)
- Vehicle is reversing (yellow light at the rear of vehicle)
- Vehicle taking a turn (amber indicators at rear, front and sides of the vehicle)
- Hazard lamp (left and right indicators blink together at rear and front of vehicle)
- Dipper – given by the driver while asking for permission to overtake a vehicle running in the same direction. Given by the driver to the vehicle approaching from the opposite direction to seek first right of way.
