Right of Way

There are certain situations where the drivers have to decide which vehicle should be given priority to go. One vehicle has priority over other vehicle, that is known as Right of Way. This helps in avoiding a conflict or crash. Some examples of Right of way are

  • Where a stop sign is displayed
    • Will stop before the stop line
    • If the line is not marked or not visible then stop before the sign
    • Give way to traffic moving on the major roads
    • Will enter the main road when the way ahead is clear
  • Where the Give Way sign is displayed, the driver will slow down the vehicle and first give way to the traffic moving on the main road.
  • If there is no pedestrian crossing before the Stop or Give Way sign, the driver shall give way to the pedestrians first
  • Vehicles which are coming out from a premises having a boundary wall shall give way to traffic already moving on the road
