First Aid

Immediate help or aid provided to a victim before arrival of medical assistance is termed as First Aid. It is given to stabilize the injury caused to the victim and saving his life.

First aid can be administered by a lay person without any instruments or medical aids. General principles of First Aid requires that the person assisting the victim should not panic and he should know what to do and what not do to in case of a severe or moderate injury.

Aim of the First Aid are:

• To preserve life
• To prevent worsening of condition
• To promote recovery
