Important Aspects of Seatbelt

  • Seatbelt is a Primary Restraint System whereas air bag is known as Secondary Restraint System.
  • Air bags cannot supersede functions of seat belt. Air bags work properly only when seat belt is fastened.
  • Seatbelt should be worn by all the passengers traveling in a car.
  • Children aged less than 14 years should be seated on the rear seat of the car.
  • For children aged 1-14 years a suitable child restraint seat must be used.
  • The head restraint must be adjusted according to the height of the occupant. It prevents the neck injury during occurrence of a crash.
