Use of Road by Vehicles

Some important regulations for use of road by all road users are summarized hereunder:

• Every vehicle shall be driven on the left side of the roadway.
• The driver shall give the right of way to all traffic coming from the opposite direction on his right.
• Where the view ahead is obstructed or unclear, the driver shall keep his vehicle on the left.
• Heavy vehicles shall be driven in the left lane and in case of any obstruction on the road they would change lane to cross the said obstruction and shall revert to the left lane after passing through.
• On a one-way marked road, the vehicle shall be driven according to the direction specified in the sign.
• No driver shall pull, push or drive a vehicle against the flow of traffic unless so directed by the appropriate police officer.
• If a vehicle is being reversed, the driver must ensure it is safe to do so and will reverse when the way is clear.
