Sign v/s Signal

There is significant difference between the terms Sign and Signal which can be understood by the following definitions.

Sign: Is an inactive diagrammatic representation about road, road condition or a warning etc. The examples are traffic signs and road markings.

Signal: Involves an action that represents an interaction with various road users to guide the flow of traffic. The examples are traffic lights, hand signals by drivers and traffic police.
