Mandatory Signs
Mandatory road signs are usually have circular shape. There are three different types of mandatory signs, some have red border, some have red border with a diagonal line and some have blue background only. These signs give order regarding a road regulation which must be followed by every road user. Violation of these road signs is a punishable offence. It is duty of all road users to obey the directions given by these signs. Let us understand meaning of these categories of road signs
a. Red Border or Red Border with a Diagonal
These signs have white background and black symbol. These signs prescribe some limit or prohibit an action. Therefore, they are also called as Prohibitory signs.
b. Compulsory
These signs have BLUE background and white symbol. The action denoted by symbol gives a positive order which must be followed compulsorily.
STOP and Give Way Signs
There are two other signs which belongs to the category of Mandatory Road Signs and represented by a different shape. The are STOP and Give Way signs
