Precautions to Take While Cycling
Take the following precautions while cycling. They are important for your safety.
- Look behind before starting off, turning right or left, overtaking, or stopping.
- Use cycle tracks, where available, if you are riding along the main roads.
- Always keep both hands on the handlebars unless you are giving a signal.
- Obey traffic lights and signals and be prepared for unexpected dangers.
- Give a clear arm signal to show what you intend to do.
- Never hold another vehicle or cyclist.
- Avoid carrying a passenger on your cycle even if you are expert in cycling.
- Ride one behind the other. Never ride more than two side by side even if there is no traffic.
- Do not wear a headphone or use a mobile phone while cycling. These devices affect your concentration.
